Position Overview

Summary

The Youth Advocate works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the families being served by the National Youth Advocate Program by working closely with the youth and family to provide advocacy and support towards targeted goals; including providing transportation to the families and youth being served by the National Youth Advocate Program for placement, appointments, meetings, and family visits. This position is a contingent part-time position (approximately 19 hours per week).

 

Responsibilities

The Youth Advocate will perform duties including, but not limited to:

  • Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies
  • Transport children, youth and families to family visits, multi-disciplinary meetings, appointments, placements, court hearings and other events as requested
  • Arrive timely for all scheduled transports and follow transportation schedule as detailed
  • Ensure children and youth are transported according to prescribed safety protocols, including use of child safety restraints.
  • Respond to emergencies and crises at the direction of the supervisor
  • Document all activities in a timely manner including logging mileage and hours worked
  • Assist in scheduling and arranging appointments

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Reliable transportation
  • Vehicle used to transport successfully passes safety inspection
  • A minimum of $100,000/$300,000 liability insurance on vehicle used for transportation
  • Working, reliable telephone
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing
