Position Overview

Summary

Under the general supervision of the Lead Clinician or designee, this position works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the youth and families served. This position provides clinical and/or counseling services for children in care and provides oversight for the child’s mental and emotional health. This position works closely with youth, foster parents, case managers, and educators providing counseling or therapy, advocacy, and support.

 

Responsibilities

The Clinician position may include the following, as well as other duties assigned:

  • Actively support, represent, and extend the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Conduct mental health assessments and provide ongoing individual and group counseling services.
  • Provide appropriate individual, group, and family mental health services, case management, transportation, and other professional services, meeting or exceeding established outcomes thresholds on behalf of persons served.
  • Complete all required documentation and training in a timely manner.
  • Provide ongoing and individual counseling services
  • Screen for human trafficking concerns, and provides crisis intervention services. 
  • Regularly review and modify individual service plans in collaboration with case management team to assure consistent progress and success on written plan goals.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationship with foster parents.
  • Assist in placement efforts with the youth’s sponsor or other permanent living arrangement consistent with the youth’s case plan.
  • Provide safety assessment, crisis response, and behavioral stabilization services as required to assure safety and stability for youth served.
  • Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement activities on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Actively participate in weekly supervision.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work, or comparable behavioral science field, from an accredited institution.
  • 5 years of direct clinical work experience. Direct service with youth and families strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with family reunification.
  • A valid advanced professional license as required and acceptable by state or contract regulations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, automotive insurance, and a good driving record.
  • A willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours in the service of foster caregivers, families of origin, and persons served.
  • Capacity to be flexible and responsive to youth served, foster caregivers, system partners, and internal customers.
  • Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function.
  • Demonstrates tolerance and respect for the ideas and actions of others.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish Fluency.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, internet search, people management programs, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
