Behavioral Health Utilization Review Specialist

SALARY: $7,398 - 9355 / Month

THE JOB:

· Review medical records of patients who are under treatment for substance use disorder, emotional or mental illness to ensure proper utilization of treatment resources and quality of care;

· Review patient records for proper case documentation, and medical necessity of treatment in relation to federal, state and county regulations;

· Assess continuing treatment plans;

· Address patient concerns;

· Advocate for quality patient treatment practices with all Medi-Cal providers

*Effective July 11, 2020, this position has been furloughed by 7.5%.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Would have knowledge of culturally appropriate psychological and social aspects of substance use treatment, mental health and trauma impact.

THE REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a Master's Degree with a major in Social Work, Psychology, Psychiatric Nursing, Marriage and Family Therapy, Registered Nursing or a closely related science field which has included completion of a university approved internship AND

• The equivalent to one year of experience at the level of Senior Mental Health Client Specialist.

Special Requirements: License, Registration: Possession of a valid and good-standing license as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Clinical Psychologist, or Registered Nurse. Background Investigation: Fingerprinting is required.
