Position Overview

Summary

The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner position provides medical assistance to the clients served through NYAP providing medication assessment and treatment as well as performing physical assessments and treating acute or minor illnesses as needed. This is a remote position for Kentucky applicants.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies.
  • Perform assessments on each client upon arrival and intake.
  • Diagnose health issues; detect changes in a patient’s health and change treatment plans as necessary.
  • Prescribe and administer medicines and treatments as necessary.
  • Ensure necessary medication prior authorizations or special clearances for medications are completed.
  • Evaluate responses to treatments and medications.
  • Order and perform diagnostic tests as necessary.
  • Identify abnormal findings and notify the client’s physician or consulting physicians.
  • Assure the need for medical treatment for illnesses and/or injuries are being met.
  • Assure the administration and implementation of physician orders, and when appropriate, educate the appropriate staff on administering medication and/or treatment as needed.
  • Assure all documentation and required record keeping is completed in a timely manner.
  • Assess minor illnesses and administer non-prescription medications per approved Standing Orders Policy.
  • Assure the program’s compliance with Medical Policies and Procedures as well as Standing Orders.
  • Maintain clinical supervision with a licensed psychiatrist according to state regulations.
  • Maintain appropriate liability insurance per NYAP guidelines.

   

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • Must be an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with valid licensure and be board certified by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
  • Must have prescription authorization and medical malpractice insurance.
  • Willingness to treat children, adolescents, and adults is required.
  • Must be available for on-call phone consultations as needed.
  • Must maintain compliance with required training programs.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, database programs, e-prescriber services, and electronic medical records.
  • Must be willing to provide services via secure telehealth modalities approved by NYAP.
