Corrections Health provides constitutionally mandated and medically necessary health care to the detainees in the Multnomah County jails and Juvenile Detention Home.
The Position This position assures quality mental health service delivery and optimizes the use of resources across multiple correctional sites. Responsibilities of this position include:
Provide clinical and administrative direction to mental health program which includes developing and implementing work procedures consistent with county and department policy, establishing work schedules, and monitoring work performed and collaborating with Director, Corrections Health Management Team in order to meet agreed-upon goals, objectives, and target dates.
Serve as mental health program liaison to Health Department, MCSO, Public Safety agencies, and other county/community agencies to coordinate continuity of care to our clients.
Perform administrative supervisory functions including interviewing, hiring, oversees implementation of training, evaluating, coaching on work tasks, and disciplinary actions in manner consistent with county policies and union contract provisions.
Participate as a member of the Correction Health Leadership team to develop policy, review NCCHC standards, manage Mental Health Grants, and collaborate to bridge Medical and Mental Health program needs.
Monitor the mental health program operating budget; determine and recommend changes in staffing patterns; monitor and analyze expenditures in keeping with workflow, program goals; determine or recommend amendments to funding authorization
Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, psychology, or Counseling with clinical licensure (see below)
- Oregon Board of Licensed Social Workers, OR - Oregon Board of Psychologist Examiner
8 years or more, with experience and ability in providing mental health direct clinical services/ care to individuals and expert level experience in assessing risk for suicide
Experience in a health care setting along with 3 or more years health care experience.
Knowledge of clinical issues that affect incarcerated population
Knowledge of community resources, including those that affect individuals involved in the criminal justice system, working in a correctional (jail or prison) or related (diversion program, probation and parole) environment
Principles, practices and procedures of administrative oversight , including employee performance appraisal.
