Essential Responsibilities: As a member of the Leadership Team, the Director manages program activities effectively and efficiently in accordance with agency policies and procedures; supervises staff and provides professional leadership and direction; represents the agency positively and responsively in the community; develops and monitors program initiatives to increase the capacity of the agency to fulfill its mission. Here are the essential responsibilities of this position:
Provide administrative oversight for forensic programs (Relapse Intervention for Sex Crimes [RISC], Domestic Abuse Awareness Classes (DAAC), and Personal Empowerment and Conflict Education (PEACE) and ensure that programs, services, and staff are fulfilling the agency mission in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
Depending on candidates strengths and background candidate will also provide oversight for some combination of the following programs: Ulster Prevention Council, Ulster Family Advocacy, Family Education Program, Supervised Visitation Program, Universal Response to Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault Response Team, and SNUG.
Provide supervision, direction and guidance to staff.
Administer required records, reports, and data for programs and ensure that all certifications, reimbursement and funding requirements are fulfilled in a timely, accurate manner.
Serve as a member of the Leadership Team and assure effective communication, continuity, and cooperation between all programs, services, and administrative and support functions.
Facilitate staff development and assure that staff is appropriately trained to meet the agency requirements and all regulations.
Participate in agency-wide and agency-appointed committees in order to facilitate agency program initiatives and services to the community.
Monitor and evaluate the quality of services and programs, and the performance of staff to ensure that programs and staff performance meet agency and regulatory bodies’ standards.
Meet with the Deputy Executive Director on a timely and regular basis to provide updates on the status of programs; to identify problems in programs, staffing, services, funding, and community; to propose solutions, to recommend policy and program initiatives and to implement solutions as appropriate.
Respond supportively to changes in programs and policies and take a broad view of one’s position by assuming additional responsibilities when the need arises.
Provide leadership to agency staff by example, by knowledge and practice of professional skills, relationship and standards.
Assure appropriate staffing by recruiting, interviewing, and recommending candidates for positions
Provide budget management in partnership with fiscal department
Complete staff performance appraisals in a timely manner and address performance issues through partnership with HR
Facilitate program development and new initiatives including grant writing related to assigned programs and agency initiatives.
Maintain quality assurance procedures, including creation of policy and procedures, monitoring and evaluating the quality of services and programs.
Participate in program outreach to the community and expand service reach by researching community organizations and providing community outreach through presentations
Assist with fundraisers and special events (some of these may be outside agency hours of operation)
Other duties as assigned based upon need of program or Agency
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours/week.

Special Skills and Abilities:
Must be reachable outside of office hours if needed.
Masters degree in human service or related field
Previous experience in administration, supervision, and program development.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and computer skills.
Experience in human services preferred
Strong customer service skills; ability to work in a team in a collaborative manner
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Strong computer skills including working knowledge of an email package and working knowledge of MS software programs: Word and Excel
Established cell phone, willing to use for work (will be reimbursed), effective coverage for the Dutchess County & Ulster County area
Ability to work irregular hours
Ability to take direction from either supervisor and/or co-workers based on the situation
Family Services is a large not-for-profit agency located in Poughkeepsie, NY with a mission to help families and individuals help themselves through direct services, collaboration and advocacy. With a total staff of approximately 200 employees and volunteers, Family Services provided services to over 9000 individuals and families in Dutchess and Ulster Counties in 2014. Family Services provides se...rvices to youth, family, and crime victims through a number of programs. Family Services’ is located in and maintains the Family Partnership Center which houses 15 not-for-profit agencies offering a number of different services the community.
