Gwynedd Mercy University invites applications for a non-tenure- track assistant professor toserve as the Director of Field Education for a new BSW Program, beginning in August 2017. The position requires administration as well as teaching responsibilities. Administrative duties include but are not limited to identifying and developing relationships with appropriate field sties; coordinating with site supervisors; monitoring student progress and evaluating student learning outcomes; interviewing students to match placements with career goals; assessing competencies and fit for placements; and assigning placements. The Director of Field Education will work closely with the Program Director during the CSWE accreditation process to ensure program compliance with accreditation standards. The position also requires a 9-credit teaching load of undergraduate social work courses that focus on generalist social work practice, including the field work seminar.
An MSW from a CSWE-accredited program, two years of social work experience, and a minimum of five years of college-level teaching experience are required. A DSW or Ph.D. is preferred. Knowledge of Philadelphia area social service agencies is a plus.
