JOB SUMMARY:We are seeking a DYNAMIC & DEDICATED Therapist to join our Intensive Family Preservation Services (IFPS) team!!
The Therapist provides home-based counseling services for families that are at imminent risk of child placement.
These services include crisis intervention, counseling, skill building, coordination of concrete services and advocacy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schedule sessions at times that are convenient for families and when problems are likely to occur, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Maintain a flexible workweek
Be available to client families 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
Provide 8-10 hours of face-to-face contact weekly per family, over a 4-6 week period
Utilize research-based cognitive/behavioral strategies and motivational interviewing to facilitate behavior change
Collaborate and advocate with formal and informal community resources and systems, while teaching family members to advocate for themselves
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
• Master’s degree in Social Work • Social Work License in the appropriate jurisdiction [LGSW – District of Columbia; MD can be obtained after hire] • Ability to work with diverse individuals • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain client confidentiality • 2 years extensive experience with at risk families and service coordination preferred • 3 years’ experience working with families and children in a therapeutic setting preferred • Demonstrated clinical judgment and leadership skills • Safe driving skills
