The Strategic Program Officer will take a lead role in this transformation and will place All Faiths Food Bank at the center of community activities related to food insecurity and under-nutrition. We are seeking an innovative thinker and visionary. The successful candidate will also be experienced in evidence-based practice and will understand that programming is directed by data. He/she must demonstrate knowledge of program planning, evaluation and research. Extensive experience in convening and building community collaborations will be important. This position is key in the formulation and execution of the strategic plan by providing the structure and processes necessary to manage the organization's current and new programming.
Program Development and Implementation:
Develop and oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of a portfolio of programs and services to address hunger as a health issue, to include Child and Family Food Distribution, Community Food Distribution, and Health and Nutrition Programs
Create the structure and processes necessary to manage activities and projected growth
Assist program leaders in the development of program goals and strategies and assess program performance using defined metrics
Ensure compliance with internal and external affiliation agreements/contracts, policies and procedures including but not limited to Feeding America, USDA, state, county and local authorities, member agencies and community partners
Research and Program Evaluation:
Oversee program evaluation, including setting program outcome measures, tracking and reporting program metrics to ensure strategic objectives are met
Oversee the expansion and application of a Client Information Management System
Community Engagement and Advocacy:
Establish key relationships with and convene community-based organizations, health care, education, academia and others to advance the Food Bank mission, programs and initiatives
Identify and maintain relationships with experts and consultants on topics relating to food insecurity, nutrition, health, and client well-being
Identify new and/or strengthen existing collaborations and partnerships in the community to enhance food insecurity programming and/or provide new opportunities for enhanced service delivery
Educate and engage community around mission of providing healthy solutions in ending hunger
Leadership and Management
Engage, coach and lead program team (10-14 team members) in the development and implementation of programs and services
Serve as a member of the executive leadership team
Develop and implement procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow within the department and across the organization
Collaborate with all AFFB functional areas to ensure quality programs and services are delivered in a cost efficient and effective manner
Develop and monitor annual budget for program areas
Design/re-design processes and procedures as needed
Integrate innovation and technology to gain efficiencies including client data tracking
Bachelor's degree required with Master’s Degree in public administration, public health, education or social work
Eight to ten years of management and supervisory experience
Experience in health, human services or education strategic program development and oversight.
Ability to evaluate and forecast program
Ability to effectively and efficiently engage, lead and communicate with team members.
Ability to work collaboratively with varied constituencies including clients, volunteers, nonprofit community organizations, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business
Ability to manage departmental budgets and conduct financial analyses.
Strong written communication and public speaking skills required.
Successful track record in grant writing a plus.
