We seek a compassionate and resourceful Palliative Medicine Clinical Social Worker who will become an integral part of our Hospice and Palliative Medicine team. The Clinical Social Worker will be responsible for providing psychosocial services to patients and their families in a variety of settings including hospital, inpatient unit, nursing facility or patient’s home. This includes individual and family counseling, facilitating family meetings, working with anticipatory grief and difficult family dynamics, understanding placement options and appropriate social, financial and legal services. Provides education to hospital and facility staff about hospice and palliative medicine services and encourages the appropriate use of same.

HOURS: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
LOCATION: This position is based at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD.
EDUCATION: Master Social Work degree from an accredited educational institution required. LCSW-C required. preferred. ACHP-SW preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years in health care field. Prior Palliative Medicine or hospice experience preferred.
SKILLS: Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as a member of a team. Demonstrated emotional maturity and the ability to cope and work effectively with stress of continual loss. Exhibited understanding of, and acceptance of, the hospice philosophy. Well-developed critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills. Basic knowledge and understanding of medical terminology. Ability to communicate effectively with medical professionals of all disciplines. Basic computer skills, to include but not limited to Microsoft Word and Outlook, required.
REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a valid driver's license. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs safely.Compliant with health screening and vaccination requirements of organization, including TB screening and Influenza vaccination annually.
