DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY GRADUATE SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK (GSSW) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position beginning in the Fall of 2010.
We are seeking an ASSISTANT PROFESSOR with expertise in the area of Gerontology.
We have a globally focused, family-centered concentration with additional certificates in school social work and gerontology.
The Graduate School of Social Work, centered in the Sinsinawa Dominican tradition and committed to truth, compassion, empowerment and social justice, prepares professional social workers for globally focused, family-centered practice with diverse, oppressed, at-risk populations through rigorous education, practice, research and service. Dominican University offers the first MSW program in Illinois to specialize in this globally oriented curriculum. We believe that the global focus is necessary for training and developing social workers to practice in the 21st century. Besides the candidate’s expertise area, individuals should be capable of teaching in one or more of the following areas: Advanced Family Practice, Multiculturalism, Macro Practice, Policy, Research and Field.

Successful candidates should possess an MSW (with 5 years experience) and/or a PhD/DSW (preferred) in Social Work or be an ABD with completion within 1 year of appointment. For those interested in teaching in practice areas, 2 years post-Masters experience is needed with clinical licensing preferred. Individuals should have experience in teaching at either BSW or MSW levels along with potential for research, grant writing and scholarship in social work.
