Job Description
Join the University of Alaska Anchorage School of Social Work

The University of Alaska Anchorage, School of Social Work invites applications for the position of Director of the Family and Youth Services Training Academy (FYSTA). FYSTA operates through an annual contract with the Alaska Office of Children’s Services (OCS) to provide Title IV-E child welfare training statewide. FYSTA is currently in its 13th successful year of operation and partnership with OCS and is housed in attractive, recently remodeled offices on campus, in the University-Medical district of the largest city in the state. It operates in the rich cultural and environmental context that is uniquely Alaskan. The FYSTA Director is responsible for : • development of long-range training plans and annual training calendars formed in response to needs identified by OCS; • negotiating annual contracts with key OCS personnel in excess of $700,000; • organizational management of the training academy; • hiring and supervising a staff of 5 trainers and administrative staff and oversight of contract personnel; • exercising budgetary authority over all aspects of FYSTA. • The Director is an active member of the training team. The position will remain open until filled, with January 15 as the preferred date of hire. Salary will depend upon experience.

Requirements
Among other qualifications, a successful applicant will have: • Master’s degree; • Five years experience in child welfare.
